In this performance I source my experience with the pejorative Spanish word for “wetback.” This minimally framed image of my wet back grapples with internalized racism as it is performed within my own ethnic community. The intended looping of this video points to how US-hegemonic notions of citizenship position Mexican-Americans, as well as other brown bodies, as always being alien.
